Meghan Markle, 43, appeared this week on her Instagram profile to announce the passing of Guy, her Beagle dog.

The Duchess of Sussex shared a video with various touching moments of her and her husband, Prince Harry, alongside their beloved dog. In the caption, she took the opportunity to say goodbye to Guy.

“I adopted a Beagle from an animal shelter in Canada in 2015. He was in a kill shelter in Kentucky and only had a few days left to live. I took him in… and I fell in love. They called him ‘the little guy’ because he was so small and fragile, so I named him Guy. And he was the best boy a girl could ask for,” she began.

“He had a serious accident just before I moved to the UK, which led to months of surgeries, and he couldn’t leave the clinic. The doctors said he would never walk again, but Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick said he could. [Harry] and I would drive late at night after work to visit Guy while he was recovering in Surrey for months.”

“As many of you may now see, I hope you understand why I am so devastated by his loss. I think you will also fall in love with him a little bit,” said the actress, who recently announced she will host a lifestyle show on Netflix.

“I’ve shed many tears telling this – the kind of tears that make you think about taking a shower, in the vain hope that the water running down your face somehow makes you believe you don’t feel them or try to ignore them, while they are there.”

“But they are there. And that’s okay too. Thank you for so many years of unconditional love, my dear Guy. You filled my life in ways you’ll never know,” she concluded.
